A Lazy Day — Shansisuchus shansisuchus
Around 247 million years ago, during the Ermaying Formation of the Middle Triassic, a pair of Shansisuchus shansisuchus rested leisurely along the riverside. However, the female seemed less than pleased with her partner’s lack of attention and responded with a deep, intimidating growl.
As one of the most complete known representatives of the genus Shansisuchus, this remarkable archosauriform provides valuable insights into the early evolutionary history of archosaur relatives in China.
Through this artwork, we recreate a quiet moment from the ancient Triassic landscape — not only showcasing the appearance of this fascinating prehistoric animal, but also capturing a glimpse of its possible behaviors and interactions in its natural environment.
