Choose options
I have to admit, I’m quite conflicted about this figure. On one hand, it’s a great model of a "terror bird"—specifically *Kelenken*, famous for having the largest skull of any bird. I really liked about 90% of the execution. The sculpting details on the head are excellent, and I love how the colors (inspired by the king vulture) blend on the beak. The leg details are well-done, too. But then we get to the torso... wow, the quality of the sculpting and paintwork there really drops compared to the rest of the figure. For one thing, the torso is barrel-shaped, giving the figure a somewhat comical look and making it hard to find a good spot for the support stand. The feather details in this area are very indistinct, a flaw exacerbated by the "flat" paint application, which makes the whole thing look like a cheap job. On the other hand, the joint design leaves something to be desired in a few places. I’m particularly puzzled as to why ball joints were used in the feet; given that the figure is very front-heavy, it’s impossible for it to stand on its own. Maybe the size of the feet made it impossible to implement the newer joints seen on other figures, but still... All in all, it’s a pretty good model, but one with quite a few issues.
