It was characterized by very long, relatively straight tusks. Additionally, extraordinarily developed muscles were attached to a peculiar crest on the forehead. It was arguably the most robust elephant species that ever lived. It is closely related to the extant African forest elephant.

A beautiful figurine of the extinct proboscidean from Eofauna. Eofauna did a great job with this figure. Beautiful, high-quality sculpting details, realistic colors (which are very well applied), and a quite dynamic pose that make the figure stand out on the shelf. My copy had a slightly bent tusk, but that's fine with me, as it adds a unique touch to my figure and looks quite realistic (elephants in the wild rarely have symmetrical tusks). I'm happy with my purchase and recommend it to others :)
