An unusual specimen from Cretaceous China

One of the advantages, in my opinion, of collecting figurines of extinct prehistoric animals is that every now and then you come across a specimen you didn't even know existed. That's what happened to me with this little feathered fellow. I was amazed by the appearance of this model when it was announced and immediately went searching for information about it online. It's interesting that scientists are still unsure how to classify this animal, and it has contributed to a renewed debate on the relationship between birds and dinosaurs. Now, about the figurine itself. I think it's stunning. I really like the details of its dense, almost furry plumage. The colors are also quite well-chosen, perfect for an animal wading through the forest floor, trying to be unobtrusive. I wasn't initially convinced by the contrasting patterns on the feathers, as they didn't look great in the promo photos, but they turned out well in person. I also like the pose our little feathered friend is captured in, a cool, active striding pose. Of course, unlike in real life, something always has to go wrong, and my copy ended up with a deformed leg. Even though I treated it with boiling/cold water, the figure still wouldn't stand. It's a good thing PNSO anticipated this possibility and added an acrylic support to the set. Now my Caudipteryx looks like a dignified gentleman walking with his cane. xD In summary, a very nice figure, well-made, adding an interesting, (to me) little-known specimen to the collection. I recommend it.
